Unbelievable panoramic views, dense green forests, striking mountains, fascinating tribal legends and famous landmarks.
Located in the north eastern corner of South Africa lies the province of Mpumalanga, meaning ‘place where the sun rises’ and predominantly home to the Kruger Lowveld region. Here you’ll find most northern reaches of the Drakensberg mountains, the gateway to the Kruger National Park and a place of respite or one of action-packed adventure.
Breath-taking scenery, incredible numbers of the Big Five and other wildlife and fascinating ancient history makes this one of the country’s most beautiful journeys, and the epitome of South African safari.
With winding routes of dense green forests with striking mountain views and waterfalls perfectly contrasting the lowveld scenery, the Panorama Route is quite possibly South Africa’s most beautiful road trip. These spectacular forests are home to the highest concentration of waterfalls in the country and the Blyde River canyon is the largest vegetated canyon and third largest canyon in the world. God’s Window, as the names suggests, showcases breath-taking panoramic views of the Blyde River canyon and the Lowveld and canyon, famous for being one of the best views South Africa has to offer.
Spend a day on your way to Kruger National Park slowing down to enjoy this scenic drive with its spectacular viewpoints, waterfalls and canyons. Spend the night at one of the small Lowveld farming towns and take a moment to explore the byways and back roads beyond the Kruger’s boundaries, visit the local nature conservations projects and take on a few of the adventure activities readily available.
Don’t make the mistake of leaving Mpumalanga unexplored.
